Designer Ching Tan of Tan Interiors doesn’t exactly follow trends — she prefers timeless materials, and is happy to see brass flourishes going strong heading into 2024. “We chose brass gold for the lighting fixtures in this comfy and elegant room because it will last for generations to come,” she says. “Brass paired with neutral colour schemes brings a feeling of nostalgia and familiarity.”

When it comes to hot looks for living rooms in 2024, designer and stylist Arren Williams has this to say: “For me it’s all about the three Cs this year. Hits of colour, comfort and organic curves.” To wit: Arren’s line seen here (sold through Renwil). It’s better than staring at a dark void, says interior designer Nancy Kuemper of Mabel Design Co. “I love using art TVs in my projects because it allows us to seamlessly blend what would otherwise be an unsightly staple equipment piece against a beautifully designed feature.” In this case, a sleek wall of Amadeus marble: seamless stone and walls and their faux counterparts are also hot this year!

Candles and their holders (hello, hurricane lanterns; so nice to see you, sconces) are coming in strong for 2024. “They’re an easy and inexpensive way to light a room without hardwiring or dealing with unsightly cords,” says designer Jessica Gosbee of Jessica Gosbee Design.
