Unpacking

In Unpacking, players aren’t just arranging furniture—they’re unpacking a character’s life, one box at a time. The game takes a unique approach to design by having players place belongings in different living spaces across various stages of the character’s life.

Each room becomes a canvas for arranging objects and telling a story through placement, organization, and subtle decor choices. Unpacking combines puzzle elements with creative expression, making it a perfect pick for those who enjoy both storytelling and interior design.

Kawaii Home Design

Kawaii Home Design focuses on a less realistic interior design venture, but that’s not a bad thing; you might love its unique layout. You’re tasked with rearranging furniture based on a client’s request, while still keeping some of your own creative flair in the final product.

It’s not as strict with client requirements, so you can still mess around and create something that feels like your own. Outfits for a character can also be unlocked, and public polls exist where other gamers can vote on whose showroom they think is the best.

Design Home: House Renovation

The magic of this mobile game is that it features actual brands of furniture that can serve as inspiration for your actual home. These pieces can even be bought online through the game and delivered right to your door.

You’re in charge of designing all kinds of rooms, from bedrooms to bathrooms to kitchens. There are plenty of ways to customize them so that you can make them your own while still satisfying your clients. When you reach a certain level, you can unlock personal homes that you can decorate to your liking.

6

The Sims 4

The Sims 4 allows you to do a lot of things that you otherwise couldn’t do in real life. Even though interior design isn’t the main aspect of the game, it’s still an important one to keep your Sims happy. You could technically even play it just for the Build and Buy mechanic, then show off your house to the Sims community.

The Dream Home Decorator game pack especially gives decorating more depth. With it, Sims can like or dislike certain decor, and there’s a new Interior Decorator career on top of the new Build and Buy options, not to mention the amazing custom content that other players upload for anyone to use, which gives you countless options.

5

Palia

Palia is a multiplayer life sim that plops you down in a mysterious land filled with memorable characters. While there are quests for you to work on and complete, this game is incredibly cozy! In addition to exploring, building friendships, and gathering, you’ll be able to decorate your house.

The house decoration in Palia is quite impressive. Rather than placing items on a basic grid, giving everything a boxy look, placement in Palia is quite precise. This gives the game a very realistic design style. You can even decorate outdoors if you feel like it!

4

Cozy Grove

Cozy Grove is similar to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, in that you can complete daily activities on an island filled with a handful of residents. In Cozy Grove, you’ll also be able to decorate to your heart’s content.

Much of the design happens outdoors, but you can also decorate your tent, which can eventually be upgraded into an impressive cabin. The storybook art style of Cozy Grove gives the game a unique design experience as well. Overall, come for the creativeness, stay for the ghost bears!

3

The Tenants

The Tenants is essentially a landlord management version of The Sims. In this game, you’ll get to design apartments and rented spaces as you see fit. From here, tenants will move in and live their lives. It’s up to you to make sure that everything goes smoothly.

Overall, this game is perfect for any Sims fan. The Tenants is cozy, with some great customization options. Rather than building sterile environments, you can really create a lived-in apartment, complete with a plunger next to the toilet.

Pocket Love

Pocket Love combines interior design and love in one cozy mobile game. At the start, you’ll be able to make a couple to move in. From there, you’ll be able to design the house for the two to live in.

The customization features in this game are great. From tweaking the appearance of both people in the couple, to fully decorating each room in your house, the possibilities are endless! In addition to decorating, you’ll also be able to go on dates and explore the tiny town around you.

Dream House Days DX

Last but not least, we have Dream House Days DX. This game is similar to The Tenants; you’ll manage apartments that you’ll need to furnish and decorate yourself. Overall, your goal is to be a good landlord while still turning a profit.

The art style of this game feels very nostalgic, especially if you grew up on the early-2000s internet. This makes sense though, as Dream House Days originally launched in 2013. The real charm of this game is watching your tenants grow as people; you may even witness a wedding!
